9. Symptoms so far
These notes are for use together with the Colley Model.
By this stage of the assessment, stress urinary incontinence if present, should have been identified.
If the patient has other symptoms such as undue urinary frequency and urgency, the assessment should now work towards whether the symptoms are those of urgency urinary incontinence or a voiding difficulty due to bladder outlet obstruction or underactive detrusor.
NOTE
Sometimes, patients with stress urinary incontinence voluntarily void frequently during the day in order to keep the bladder at a low volume to try to minimise leakage. It is important not to confuse this with urinary frequency associated with urgency.
